Homeschool on a Battlefield




"This ought to be a movie." That was my first thought when I finished Homeschool on a Battlefield. 


This first novel by Jennifer Lynn is an action adventure book that is designed for the younger reader. Her characters, the Homeschool Kids, come to life in this book. They stumble into danger while they solve a mystery on a Civil War battlefield. 


The exciting conclusion is as compelling as any thriller I have ever read. That's quite a challenge for a children's book author to meet. But Jennifer Lynn has accomplished it. 


Readers of all ages can enjoy this book, because it has no bad language or adult situations. Good job Jennifer Lynn.

I know the heart of this man and it tends always to God. I have been married to Larry Vaughn for forty years and know exactly what went into this book. 


Every verse, every thought and hope he shared with only two people. God and me. In that order. Read this book and you will find the love he has for God and the passion to teach people how to love and be loved by our Father. 


Larry studies the Word and then talks his thoughts over with God. At this point he does probably the most spiritual thing he ever does. He waits and he listens. 


Nothing is in these pages that Larry did not discuss with the Father. That is why it is so helpful. It says only what God says in a way to make us understand.


God has blessed Larry with the gift of teaching and He has blessed me with a Godly and loving husband.

Heaven is for Real

Today is my sixty-fourth birthday, and I'm rejoicing today with Marie, the wife of my youth. We've been married for forty-four years, and God has really blessed us. He gave us three lovely daughters to know and to love; and we think of their husbands as our own sons. The Lord has further blessed us with thirteen amazingly creative grandchildren.

Autumn has always been my favorite season; and now I am enjoying the autumn of my life. Marie and I are reaping the rewards of a lifetime of working together.

We know that we are going to Heaven when we die. Not because of anything that we have done, but because of what Jesus did for us. "For by grace are ye saved by faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

So, I've been thinking a lot about heaven lately. I'm looking forward to seeing my Dad again, and my grandparents. Marie is looking forward to seeing her Mother and Dad again, along with three of her brothers and her sister, who have all gone to heaven before us.

Marie and I both read Heaven Is For Real, and we highly recommend it. Colton Burpo was three years old when he died and went to heaven. Jesus answered his daddy's prayer, and sent him back to earth.

In this book, he tells us what heaven is like. I don't want to spoil it for you, so I'll only tell you two things that Colton says about heaven.

He says when you die, that Jesus is the first person you see; and, he says that nobody is old in heaven. We believe that his story is true.

We already knew that heaven is for real. But it's comforting and reassuring to read the testimony of someone who's actually been there.

I absolutely love this book. I have made it a permanent part of our Family library. It inspires me, and reminds me of what it means to be an American.
